Heartland Wins District Land Judging Contest
The first place district champion team: Waylon Tessman (1st), David Hiebner (2nd), Jagger Regier (18th), and Luke Janzen (13th). This team will compete on October 14 at state.
These are the 25 ribbon winners from Heartland. Twenty-five members received ribbons, equating to 80% of our members who competed.

On Wednesday, September 30, 33 Heartland FFA members attended District Land Judging near Wood River on the Nature Conservancy’s Platte River Prairie.
Competing members had four plots of land to judge based on different characteristics of the soil, slope, and the surrounding field. Nearly 400 agriculture students from the area competed this year.
Heartland’s team placed first in the event with 25 of our members receiving a ribbon.
Waylon Tessman received first place overall and a purple ribbon. David Hiebner placed second overall and received a purple ribbon. Other purple ribbon winners were Luke Janzen and Jagger Regier. These four members of the Heartland FFA Chapter will be competing in the State Land Judging competition on Wednesday, October 14, near Beatrice, NE.
Blue ribbon winners were: Willabelle Panko, Brian Bearinger, Jack Bearinger, Sydney Rempel, and Carter Peters.
Red ribbon winners were: Lakyn Quiring, Rigs Newton, Willow Kembel, Kristin Buller, Maylie Friesen, Damon Ostrander, Keely Burgess, and Kinsley Friesen.
White ribbon winners were: Braelyn Klooster, Jake Mierau, Brinley Mierau, Miles Kliewer, Nevada Gloystein, Cashton Meyer, Kayleigh Frisbie, and Colby Frisbie.
After FFA members were finished with the competition, they had the chance to listen to Natural Resource Conservation Service employees talk about how they began their individual careers, what they do on a daily basis, and the importance of conservation practices.
