The Heartland Community Schools Quiz Bowl Team participated in their first competition of the year by attending the Nebraska State Fair contest for the first time. There were 24 teams from schools of all different sizes.
The day began with three rounds of round-robin competition. The Huskies faced Seward in the first round and lost on a sudden death question 35-45. The team then faced Howells- Dodge and lost 10-40. The final round of the day was against Crete where they lost a difficult round of questions 15-20.
Only the top 12 teams advanced to the tournament, so the Huskies ended the day 0-3. The next competition will be the Literature Bowl in Seward on September 16.
