HCS Finishes Runner-Up in Underclassmen Quiz Bowl
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Heartland Quiz Bowl Team traveled to Seward on Wednesday, May 6, to compete in the Underclassmen Quiz Bowl Tournament.
The morning consisted of three rounds of competition, and the team finished undefeated with victories over McCool Junction B, Nebraska Christian B, and Howells-Dodge. This set the team up to earn the #3 seed in the Small School Division Single-Elimination Tournament.
The Huskies faced the #14 seed from High Plains and defeated them in dominant fashion by a score of 175-20.
The next round was a rematch with the B team from Nebraska Christian, and although the score was much closer this time, the team advanced to the next round.
The third round opponent team was the #2 seed from McCool Junction A. Once again, the team was victorious and advanced to the championship round against the A team from Nebraska Christian.
The match did not go as well as planned, and the Huskies lost a lopsided match to bring home the runner-up trophy.
The quiz bowl team had a very successful season. With a number of members returning and new members joining, we look to build on this year's success.
