Heartland FBLA Attends the National Leadership Conference
Nine Heartland FBLA members attended the 2024-2025 FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, on June 29 - July 2.
Students attending the conference with adviser Karma Yantzie, along with chaperone Stephanie Buzek were: (Seniors) Brady Goertzen (Website Coding & Development), Lydia Jahnke (Digital Animation), Jamisen Klein (Digital Animation), Siddalee Kliewer( Digital Animation), Isabel Johnson (Advertising) and Austin Schmidt (Business Law, LifeSmarts); (Junior) Mia Hiebner (Financial Statement Analysis); (Sophomore) Tara Buzek (Accounting 1, LifeSmarts); (Freshman) Kate Haidle (Introduction to Business Communication).
We are pleased to announce that our Chapter President Austin Schmidt placed 4th in Business Law and brought home a very nice award. Topics covered in this competitive event are legal systems contracts and sales, business organization, property laws, agency and employment laws, negotiable instruments, insurance, secured transactions, bankruptcy, consumer protection and product/personal liability, computer law, and domestic and private law. Austin also teamed up with Tara Buzek to be crowned the champions of the LifeSmarts Challenge. The national format tested their knowledge in personal finance, consumer rights, technology, health & safety, and the environment through fast-paced rounds of questions and real-life scenarios. Their hard work paid off — they’re national champions!
In addition to competing at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, we had the chance to enjoy a variety of unforgettable experiences. Highlights included relaxing at Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, exploring the Downtown Disney District, and visiting both Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park. We also got to enjoy the famous non-dairy Dole Whip treat and ended one evening with the spectacular “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks show at Disneyland.
Congratulations to all members for a great conference!
