Heartland FFA Chapter Holds Annual Banquet

The Heartland FFA Chapter recently held its annual banquet on Thursday, April 29, to honor members for their achievements throughout the year and to thank supporters.  The evening began with opening ceremonies and a welcome to guests.  Mr. Philip Ratzlaff then gave a reflection of his daughter, Brittany Ratslaff’s, year as chapter president. After the meal break, a slideshow of this year’s activities was shown.  Mr. Blomendahl, chapter advisor, then presented chapter degrees and awards from this year’s contests and chapter activities.

            The chapter also honored businesses and individuals for supporting them throughout the year. They were: Hiebner’s Welding, Hiebner Body Shop, Kurt Goertzen-Syngenta and NK Brand Seeds, Aurora COOP, Henderson Metal Products, Custom Wood Products, A&L Sales & Service, Kroeker Grain and Lumber, Progressive Ag Partners LLC, Henderson State Bank, Circle 5 Cattle Co., Brian Janzen, Glen Ott, Alan Janzen, Bryan and Connie Bechtel. Also recognized were: Melissa Goertzen, Becky Stamp, Tammy Ott, Jill Weisheit, Marilyn Kroeker, Cindy Erb, Four Corners Health, Boardman Aerial, Dale Buller and Plains Power and Equipment.

            The chapter also awarded fourteen honorary chapter degrees.  This award goes to the parents of a graduating senior FFA member.  They were: Ron and Penny Buller, parents of Kara Buller; Mark and Cathy Wismer Epp, parents of Carlin Epp; Scott and Cindy Erb, parents of Jarred Erb; Bruce and Susan Hiebner, parents of Connor Hiebner; Lowell and Susanne Hiebner, parents of Lance Hiebner; Brian and Jerri Janzen, parents of Taylor Janzen; Katherine Jensen, Steve Jensen, parents of Travis Jensen; Richard and Susan Newton, parents of Sara Newton; Gordon and Lisa Peters, parent of Jaylen Peters; Philip and Theresa Ratzlaff, parents of Brittany Ratzlaff; Kent and Jean Regier, parents of Abby Regier and Alan and Patsy Traudt, parents of Darrell Traudt. 

            The evening concluded with the installation of the new 2010-2011 chapter officers.  They are: Andrea Boardman, President; Tanner Steingard, Vice President; Brielle van den Berg, Secretary; Rick Siebert, Treasurer; Miranda Janzen, Reporter; Brenan Erb, Sentinel; and Andrew Spader, Parliamentarian.
