Heartland FFA Chapter Holds Annual Banquet
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Heartland FFA Chapter recently held its annual banquet on Thursday, April 30, to honor members for their achievements throughout the year and to thank supporters. The evening began with opening ceremonies and a welcome to guests. Mr. Steve Warren then gave a reflection of his daughter, Jenny Warren’s, year as chapter president. After the meal break, a slideshow of this year’s activities was shown. Mr. Blomendahl, chapter advisor, then presented chapter degrees and awards from this year’s contests and chapter activities.
The chapter also honored businesses and individuals for supporting them throughout the year. They were: Henderson Community COOP, Henderson State Bank, Hiebner’s Welding, Hiebner Body Shop, Kurt Goertzen-Syngenta and NK Brand Seeds. Aurora COOP, Henderson Metal Products, Custom Wood Products, A&L Sales & Service, Kroeker Grain and Lumber, Matt Siebert- Pioneer Hybrid, Circle 5 Cattle Co., Brian Janzen, Glen Ott and Alan Janzen. Bryan and Connie Bechtel, Raymond Goertzen, Carey Goertzen, and Gordon and Donna Wemhoff. Nick Heinrichs, Brandon Friesen, Brittany Ratzlaff, Jenny Warren, Justin Wessels, Sierra Barrett, Luis Romo, Brielle van den Berg, Abigail and Logan Bechtel, Kim Siebert, Jesse Nissen, and Orschelen’s Farm and Home. Connis Brown, Kelsey Bergan, Abbie Rempel, Nathan Goertzen, Jim Epp, Jeff Peters, Dave Ehly, Matt and Valorie Quiring, Chuck Block, Mel Franz, Brad Epp, Kurt and Nancy Friesen, Lynn Gloystein, Sue Gerken, Brenda Hiebner, Carolyn Peters, Mr. Blaine Friesen, Dr. Norm Yoder, Paul Brune, Kerry Kliewer, Galen Friesen, Deb Wilhelm, Mark Dick and Gary Braun. The chapter also awarded fourteen honorary chapter degrees. This award goes to the parents of a graduating senior FFA member. They were: Bryan and Connie Bechtel, parents of Logan Bechtel; Curt and Maxine Epp, parents of Brianna Epp; Mark and Judy Epp, parents of Daniel Epp; Jenice Epp, Berdon Epp, parents of Will Epp; Cheryl Goertzen, Carey Goertzen, parents of Cody Goertzen; Glen and Tammy Ott, parents of Kayla Ott; Marc and Kelly Peters, parents of Marli Peters; Alan and Dawn Schaldecker, parents of Ethan Schaldecker; Karl Sherman, parent of Jason Sherman; Mark and Becky Stamp, parents of Derek Stamp; and Steve and Kathy Warren, parents of Jenny Warren. Also receiving the award was Mr. Blaine Friesen, who is serving his final year as Heartland Principal.
The evening concluded with the installation of the new 2009-2010 chapter officers. They are: Brittany Ratzlaff, President; Andrea Boardman, Vice President; Taylor Janzen, Secretary; Carlin Epp, Treasurer; Sara Newton, Reporter; Kara Buller, Sentinel; and Abby Regier, Parliamentarian.
