Heartland Takes Top Two Places in Triangular
Heartland hosted a triangular on April 14 at Galaway Creek Golf Course. Taking first with a 36 was Jesse Nissen. Fellow teammate Spencer Friesen finished in second with a 39. Just missing being in the top five was Tavis Koehn who shot a 44. Paul Van Kirk of Sutton finished in third with a 41 and Dustin Scheidemann (Sutton) and Hayden Farnstron (Thayer Central) tied for fourth and fifth with 42.
Nissen Comes Up Short
Heartland golfers attended the Milford Invite on April 15 at the Thornridge Golf Course. Jesse Nissen shot one over par with 37 on the front nine and 36 on the back to give him a 73. This score had Jesse tied for first place with Micheal Tewes of Lincoln Lutheran. In a playoff Jesse came up short after two holes and finished with the second place medal. Spencer Friesen turned in two rounds of 46 to end with a 92. Tavis Koehn started slow with a 50 and came back strong with a 44 to finish with a 94. Seth Schaldecker, a newcomer to the golf team, shot 53 on the front and a 54 on the back giving him a 107. Luis Roma, a first time golfer, shot 57 on the front and a 60 on the back to finish with a 117. Heartland finished in sixth place out of ten teams with a 366. Winning the meet was Lincoln Lutheran with a 318. Miss Adams said, “The team did a great job and Jesse’s round was amazing.”
