School Improvement Process Meetings

Nearly two years ago, the school board began the process of working through school improvement discussions and setting goals for the next few years as a school district.  Unfortunately, COVID shut down that process for quite some time and other priorities, such as finding a new superintendent, delayed their opportunity to revisit the process.  They are now in a place to continue and finish that discussion.

On this Wednesday, January 26th, the Nebraska Association of School Boards will be here to lead the board through the next steps.  At 5:30 PM, the association will meet with the board and a small committee of staff, students, and parents to discuss the current mission and vision statements and to complete a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis.

At 7:00 PM, the board and association will take input from the general public related to several tasks to help guide the plan moving forward, such as:

* Identify the points of pride, accomplishments, and achievements of the school district.

* Identify the challenges that may impact the district in the next three to five years.

* Identify the knowledge and skills a student should possess as a graduate of this school district.

While both session are part of a public board meeting, input will be taken from the committee during the first session and from the general public during the second session.  We are planning to meet in Room 111, but if we need more space, we will move the meeting to the theater.

The school improvement process is an important undertaking to identify and help to formulate a direction for the district for the next few years.  We hope that you can join us, but if this date does not work for you, please know that you can provide input to the process by emailing or calling Mr. Best at school and he will share your thoughts with the board.  A website that houses information on our past efforts for school improvement may be found here.
