Heartland Sends Two Golfers to Class D State Golf
On May 25 and 26 Spencer Friesen and Jesse Nissen took to the links at The Rivers Edge in North Platte for 36 holes of golf to determine the best from the top 95 golfers in Class D. Opening day saw Jesse Nissen starting his front nine with 38 and then dropping a stroke for 37 giving him 75 and putting him into the top group for the second day. Spencer Friesen started with 40 and added a few for 43 giving him 83 for the first day which placed him in the top 25. The final day had Jesse Nissen starting off slow with 43 but coming back with 39 to give him 82 for the second day and a grand total of 157 for 36 holes. Jesse Nissen’s 157 was good enough to give him the sixth place medal in Class D golf. Spencer Friesen shot two rounds of 41 on the second day to give him 82 and his total for 36 holes of golf was 165. Spencer Friesen’s 165 left him two strokes away from medaling in the top 15 for Class D.
Coach Adams said, “Both boys played to win and worked hard. They have been dedicated athletes and will continue to do well.”
