During the week of February 22-26, the Heartland FFA Chapter observed National FFA Week.  The week was full of many activities that helped promote FFA locally and at the State level.  Here are the activities the Heartland FFA Chapter did for National FFA Week:

  • FFA Lunch DayFor all the hard work that FFA members put in throughout the year, the Heartland FFA members came to the Ag Shop and had pizza and pop for lunch.
FFA members and the second grade class
  • Drive Your Tractor to School DayNumerous FFA members braved the cold weather and drove their tractors to school on Wednesday. Tractors of all sizes showed up, including full sized tractors to garden tractors.
  • P.A.L.S. DayTo help promote agricultural awareness, the Freshman FFA members read agriculturally related stories to the Heartland Community School’s Kindergarten class. Freshman FFA members were paired with Kindergarten “PALS” and they spent about 45 minutes reading together. P.A.L.S. stands for Partners in Active Learning and Support.
  • FFA Member Appreciation Day As a token of thanks for being in FFA, members received a candy bar, from the officer team, as a thank you for their work during the school year.
  • FFA BarnyardTo help end FFA Week, the Heartland FFA members held their annual FFA Barnyard. Members helped set up and supply animals for the barnyard. Once the Barnyard was assembled and filled with animals, the elementary students were invited to visit the barnyard

  • Elementary Coloring Contest – Elementary students got the chance show their coloring skills in the FFA Coloring Contest. Students in grades K-6 had one week to color their pictures and then the top three individuals in each category had their pictures displayed at the FFA Barnyard.
  • Henderson Home Show Booth – To improve community knowledge about the Heartland FFA Chapter, officers helped set-up and operate the FFA booth at the home show. Officers handed out candy and answered questions regarding the FFA chapter. They also helped visitors look through the FFA scrapbook.
