Heartland FBLA Members Attend Fall Leadership Conference

The Nebraska Fall Leadership
Conference was held September 29 in Kearney at the Ramada Inn. This
conference was a one-day workshop for FBLA officers and members.
The FBLA state officers shared information on various activities
and state goals. This year’s theme is “Simply the Best.”
The 2009-2010 Nebraska FBLA goals are:
Broadcast – increase Business Achievement Award recipients to 150,
enhance the Pledge, raise $10,000 for the Nebraska FBLA Foundation
and provide Gold Seal and Sweepstakes Award information; Everyone –
encourage communication, support chapter networking, join the
Nebraska FBLA Facebook group, complete state officer TV and radio
spots, challenge chapters to connect with at least one local
business and develop an FBLA project brochure; Service - raise
$17,000 for the March of Dimes, participate in Go Green! Challenge
and Tally It Up to seven service hours per member; Target –
strengthen membership by two members per chapter, charter or
reactivate five chapters and educate chapters on parliamentary
procedure.
The keynote speaker at the general session
was Bill Cordes. His presentation was titled, “Let’s face it, FBLA
is a “YOGOWYPI” (You Only Get Out What You Put In) Adventure. He
explained that you can belong, go through the motions, get done and
survive, or you can use the FBLA Adventure as an opportunity to
jump start you into career and life success. In his interactive
keynote, the students learned some small adjustments to make in
their approach to FBLA that will make a huge difference in what
FBLA can do for them. Following the general session, the officers
and members attended individual workshops.
The following officers and members attended
the conference: President Crista Buller, Vice President Randian
Spencer, Secretary Tori Bittinger, Reporter Katie Wilhelm,
Historian Mariah Kliewer, Committee Rep Kim Goossen and members
Ariel Lundstrom, Ashley Quiring and Mikaelyn Dick. Also attending
the conference was adviser Kristy Most.
