Pennies for Patients Raises Over $1,700

When Heartland students decide to raise money, they go all out.  The Heartland FBLA chapter took on the task of raising money for blood cancer research.  The chapter joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Pennies for Patients” campaign and raised over $1,700 for this worthy cause.  Some of the fundraising activities included:  passing buckets at the home basketball games, putting collection jars in classrooms, selling Ozark lollipops for Valentine’s Day, having a raffle during the home basketball games, cinnamon roll competitions, and a special event called “Stuck for a Buck.”  The cinnamon rolls were won by the fourth grade class, the fifth grade class, and the junior class.  The overall winner of a pizza party was the fourth grade class, who raised $348.12.  Thank you to everyone who donated to our Pennies for Patients project.  This money goes toward helping patients with treatment and hospital stay expenses, and helping find a cure for all blood cancers.
