8th Graders Explore College and Careers
8th Graders Explore College and Careers
On January 24, 8th grade students traveled to Lincoln to get a head start on college and career planning. First stop was the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where they had a college presentation from and admissions representative who encouraged them to take challenging courses and get involved in clubs and activities in high school. Students toured the campus with current student guides and got a glimpse of college life. Eating in the residence hall dining facilities also was a highlight. Next on the agenda was a career visit to Duncan Aviation. Students learned about the wide variety of careers available at Duncan (jobs are available in every career cluster) and got a first-hand look at the airplanes in various stages of maintenance. It was an interesting day for students and sparked their interest in planning ahead for the college and career that fits them.
