York County Spelling Contest
Grades 3 & 4
"Quartz" was just one of the 109 out of 110 words that Ashley Quiring, daughter of Lonnie and Lisa Quiring, spelled correctly to win the Third and Fourth Grade Division of the York County Spelling Contest on February 16. Placing second and spelling 104 out of 110 words was Janelle Huebert, daughter of Jay and Renae Huebert.
Also competing at the area spelling contest were Maelyn Huebert, daughter of Melissa Huebert and Ashton Kroeker, daughter of Jay and Marilyn Kroeker.
"Today, one of my dreams came true," said Ashley of her win. Earlier in February she had written about a memorable day for the state writing test and told the story of last year's spelling contest, but this day was much better than that one.
Janelle said, "My mom helped me practice every night by giving me words to write down."
