Do you know which island country generates the most power from nuclear energy after United States and France?  Haley Huebert won the Heartland National Geography Bee with the winning answer of Japan.  Ethan Hall was the other finalist.
Other Heartland participants were Carlos Maldonado, Andrew Fhuere, Leslie Braun, Eve Vanderneck, Rebekah Larson, McKenna Friesen, Jordan Heinrichs, Sheppard Ruybalid, Tyler Brown, Allison Braun, Leah Friesen, Bailey Carr and Jonathan Larson.
Haley will take a written test and will compete with other Nebraska students to represent our state at the national level in Washington D.C.  The winner of the National Geography Bee will receive a $25,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
“Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek will moderate the national finals on May 26.  The program will air on television.
Everyone can test their geography knowledge with the new and exciting GeoBee Challenge, on online geography quiz at www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee.  The game poses 10 new questions a day.
