100th Day of School 2009
by Dee Steever
Teachers were scurrying, activities were arranged, children were excited, and the fireworks were about to go off as Friday, January 23, 2009 rolled around.
Since the first day of school in August, children in grades K-6 have looked forward to the 100th day of school, patiently marking time with various tools to make sure they knew the exact day of the celebration!
Finally, the day arrived and as usual it started off with a bang or shall we say 1000 bangs as firecrackers were lit in recognition of this exciting day.
Children in all grades celebrated with different activities to honor this fun-fill but educational day. There were puzzles put together, Fruit Loops strung, and structures built. There were estimation games, art projects, science investigations and graphing pages, not to mention ‘rigorous exercising’ and ice cream treats,
Every year the 100th day of school falls in January and it is always started with a bang. Next January when you hear the excitement you will know that the students of Heartland Schools are again taking advantage of the educational process that allows learning and fun to go hand in hand.
