The Night Before School

A Poem based on The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before school and all through our room

Not a ferret or chinchilla were humming a tune.

The snow flakes were put on the magnetic bar with care,

In hopes that Mrs. Steever would soon be there.

The children were seated, spread out on the floor,

In hopes that Mrs. Steever would soon walk through the door.

Mrs. Huebert was busy chasing kids off the ice,

She hurried very fast, but they ran like mice.

When our on the soccer field Zach, , Reid, Peyton, and Ben

Were playing a game and the score was 20 to 10.

The clutter of seatwork around on the floor,

Made Hadley, Jade, Kristina, and Colton fear there might be more.

When with our ears we could suddenly hear,

Mr. Lundstrom teaching four top champion reindeer.

With the bell ringing so loudly and clear,

We ran to the door but the teacher wasn’t near.

With chatter and giggles we skipped down the hall

But suddenly we froze and started to fall.

Now Kate get on up and Zachary too,

Let’s follow each other to look through the school.

So off to the classroom the kids they all flew,

Luke and Emily knew what they all had to do.

As they entered the classroom they shouted with glee,

They saw their wild-haired teacher with twelve treasure box keys!
