Staff Development
The staff development days on which we have late starts or early outs for students, the teachers are utilizing this time to work on school improvement initiatives. We are always looking for ways to improve what we do on a daily basis.
During the last opportunity on Wednesday, November 7th, the teachers reviewed safety procedures and continued our discussion on improvement goals related to student achievement data. The pictures within this article show the teachers discussing the test data of our students as they look for indications of strengths and weaknesses.
At the end of the morning, the teachers identified two school improvement goals:
- To align our teaching objectives more closely with the state standards and between grade levels,
- To research and implement initiatives to improve students' vocabulary
At our next staff development opportunity, they will be working in committees to discuss and identify the steps necessary to accomplish these goals.
We are very appreciative of the time that we are given to do this important work and of the families for adapting their schedules around these staff development days.
