Fontanelle Hybrids is holding an essay contest to seniors involved in 4-H or FFA. Thirty $1,000 prizes will be awarded. Perennial Public Power District is offering a $1,000 per year scholarship to a student planning to enroll in a utility line program. Must write an essay, provide references and resume. Deadline: January 1, 2015.
Board of Trustees Scholarship: Offered by the Nebraska State College System and can be used to attend Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State College. Applicants must score at least a 25 on the ACT. Deadline: Jan 15.
Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association is offering two scholarships to graduating seniors. 1) 2015 NRCSA Scholarships: awarded to students planning to become teachers or related occupations such as media specialists. 2) Gary Fisher Fine Arts Scholarship: awarded to students who excel in and plan to major in fine arts in college. Application is available at www.nrcsa.net. Deadline: apps are due to Mrs. Koehler by January 16.
Acacia Fraternity (UNL) offers scholarships to males who display motivation for personal success, an interest in developing and applying
leadership skills and plan to attend UNL next fall. These scholarships are not dependent on membership in the fraternity. Deadline Jan. 31, 2015.

The Nebraska Grain Sorghum Producers Association is offering a scholarship for students planning to enter an agriculture-related field of study. Deadline: Feb. 1.
Nebraska Wesleyan University has launched Access NWU, a full-tuition program that provides additional means for students with high financial need to pursue a quality education at Nebraska Wesleyan. Students who meet these financial and educational qualifications will receive scholarships equal to the cost of
tuition after state and federal grants have been applied. Must have an ACT minimum score of 25.
The Great Plains Association of College Admission Counselors (GPACAC) awards three $1,000 scholarships to students in Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma, each year. Go to http://www.gpacac.net/scholarships to view qualifications for each. Deadlines begin February 1.
The Susan T. Buffett Foundation provides scholarships that can be used to cover expenses related to attending college (e.g. tuition and fees, housing, books). The amount of the scholarship varies by institution but is typically equal to the average cost of tuition and fees for a full-time student (15 credits) at that institution. For example, the maximum 2014-15 scholarship amount was $4,250 per semester at the University of Nebraska schools. There are income qualifications students & families must meet. You can apply for this scholarship between November 1, 2014 and February 1, 2015. Cornerstone Bank is offering a Careers in Ag Day scholarship. Must attend a NE college in an agriculture-related field and have attended Careers in Ag Day during their senior year. Deadline: Feb. 2.

Students who plan to attend a college or university in Nebraska can apply for the Warren & Velda Wilson Foundation Scholarship. This $1,250 scholarship requires an essay and 2 letters of recommendation. The application was emailed to HCS seniors and need to be returned to Mrs. Koehler by February 5, 2015.
The Grand Island Concert Association is offering a $750 scholarship to seniors who have an interest in and have participated in music and/or theater. Deadline: Feb. 15.

The Nebraska Press Association Foundation is offering scholarships to students planning to pursue a degree in print/newspaper journalism at a Nebraska College. Postmark deadline: Feb. 20.
Southeast Community College (SCC) Educational Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors to be applied toward the cost of tuition when a student enrolls full time in a degree or diploma program at SCC.
