Applications are available for the Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship.  This award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership.  Apply online by Oct. 2 at www.wendysheisman.com.

 

The Horatio Alger Scholarship Program awards students who have overcome obstacles in their lives and need financial assistance to attend college.  Find out more at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.  Deadline for application is October 25, 2014.

 

Applications are available for the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.  Students apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org.  Successful applicants usually have at least a B average.  Community service, part-time employment, leadership and academics all play a significant role in the selection process.  Winners are awarded up to $5,000 per year for four years and must plan to attend any accredited U.S. post-secondary school.  Check out the web site at www.coca-colascholars.org.  Deadline for application is October 31.

Applications are available for the Hagan Foundation Scholarship. To be eligible, you must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and score a 23 or higher on the ACT. Must meet income qualifications (have financial need). http://haganscholarships.org/. Deadline: Nov. 15.

UNL Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science & Management Program – This honors program is looking for top students with 30 or above ACT, top 10% rank, and want an integrated education in computer science & management.  This program includes room and board for four years.  For application and additional info go to: raikes.unl.edu.  Deadline: Nov. 15.

 

KHOP (Kearney Health Opportunities Program) – A full tuition scholarship at UNK and guaranteed admission to students’ specified healthcare program at UNMC.  Included programs are: nursing, medicine, clinical lab science, pharmacy, and radiography.  Deadline: Nov. 15. 

Governor’s Opportunity Award Scholarship: Offered by the Nebraska State College System and can be used to attend Chadron, Peru or Wayne State College.  Applicants must score between a 21 and 24 on the ACT.  Deadline: Dec. 1.

 

RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program) Students who plan to attend Wayne or Chadron State College may receive full tuition and are guaranteed early admission to Clinical Lab Science (CLS), Dental Hygiene, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician  Assistant, or Radiography degree programs at UNMC.  Deadlines at Chadron: Medicine – Nov 15, All other programs - Dec. 1, Deadline at Wayne State College: Nov. 15.

Fontanelle Hybrids is holding an essay contest to seniors involved in 4-H or FFA. Thirty $1,000 prizes will be awarded. Must write an essay on the topic: "What is the Role of Production Agriculture in Your Local Community?".  Applications will be accepted beginning Oct. 27, 2014, deadline to apply is Dec. 19, 2014.  Submit your application and essay at www.fontanelle.com/essaycontest

Perennial Public Power District is offering a $1,000 per year scholarship to a student planning to enroll in a utility line program. Must write an essay, provide references and resume. Deadline: January 1, 2015. 

Board of Trustees Scholarship: Offered by the Nebraska State College System and can be used to attend Chadron, Peru, or Wayne State College.  Applicants must score at least a 25 on the ACT.  Deadline: Jan 15.  

Cornerstone Bank is offering a Careers in Ag Day scholarship. Must attend a NE college in an agriculture-related field and have attended Careers in Ag Day during their senior year. Deadline: Feb. 2.
