NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) scholarships: two $500 scholarships will be awarded with preference given to applicants who plan to enter the fields of: education, business, management, finance, marketing, sales, or actuarial science at a Nebraska college. Deadline: Feb. 15.
Hamilton Community Foundation Scholarships: Students who reside in Hamilton County should check out the long list of Hamilton Community Foundation scholarships available. One application makes you eligible for various scholarships. Application materials and more info available at www.hcfne.org. Deadline: Feb. 15.
Nebraska Press Association Scholarship: Up to 4 $2000 scholarships awarded to students planning to pursue a degree in print journalism at a Nebraska college. Deadline: Feb. 19. Application can be accessed at www.nebpress.com.
York Chamber Scholarship: to be eligible, you must be currently employed by a York Chamber of Commerce Business. Deadline: Feb. 19.
York County Corn Growers Scholarship: to be eligible, you must plan to major in an Ag related field in college. Deadline: Feb. 19.
BILL LEWIS SCHOLARSHIP: 2 $500 scholarships will be awarded to Nebraska high school students. Deadline: Feb. 21.
Buick Achievers Scholarship: Must plan to major in engineering, technology or design, with an interest in the automotive industry. Deadline: Feb. 29.
B.P.O. Order of Does Scholarship: They will award 2 $300 scholarships to students (male or female) planning to attend college next year. Deadline: apps must be received by Feb. 29.
CNSGA Golf Scholarship: Must have excelled in the game of golf, deadline is March 1.
DJ's Hero Scholarship: Honors the "unsung hero" who has overcome adversity, and demonstrated leadership in and commitment to his/her community. Applicant must write an essay explaining why he/she is qualified to receive this scholarship. Applicant must be nominated by an adult. See attachment for more info. Deadline: March 2.
Nebraska Czechs of York Scholarship: To be eligible, you must reside in York, Seward, Polk, Hamilton, and Fillmore Counties who plan to pursue further education at a college of their choice. Selection will also be based upon high morals, character, academics (80% average or above), leadership and community involvement. Need 3 letters of recommendation. Deadline: March 10.
2016 Scott Mecham BBB Student of Integrity Awards: These scholarships are not based on ethnicity, need or grade point average, but recognize students who exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity—humility, courage, compassion and respect for their peers, teachers and community. www.bbbinc.org Deadline: March 11.
York Elks Lodge Scholarship: Criteria will be weighed equally between academics, activities and leadership, and financial need. Deadline: March 11.
Lincoln Community Foundation: Many scholarships with different criteria and amounts are available. Check them out at www.lcf.org. Deadline: March 15.
Central Valley Ag Scholarship: Students must plan to major in an Ag related field. The first consideration of the applicant is that the parents or guardian of the applicant is a current stockholder of Central Valley Ag, or one of the parents or guardians is an employee of Central Valley Ag. York American Legion Auxiliary scholarship: This scholarship is open to males and females in York County, and must be used at a Nebraska college. Need, American Legion connection, activities and career goals will be considered, but aren't required. Deadline: March 15.
Constance K. Rife scholarship: This scholarship is for senior female golfers and is available at www.simplygolf.us.com. Deadline: March 18.
The Alyssa Sandmeier Foundation is offering a $600 scholarship to a Central Nebraska senior. To be eligible, students must submit a piece of creative writing. Deadline: March 25, 2016.
The Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants Burt & Becky Whedon Memorial Scholarship: Essay required. Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: GPA, Class rank, ACT scores, honors received, school & volunteer activities, employment, demonstarted leadership, essay and letter of recommendation. Deadline: March 31.
Adelyn Rea Memorial Scholarship: for Nebraska high school seniors that have persevered while living with a congenital heart defect. See the application at http://www.loveadelyn.com/scholarship.html for a full list of criteria and guidelines. Deadline: March 31.
Pink Bandana Breast Cancer Scholarship: Applicant must be a senior at a Nebraska high school who is planning to enroll in a 2 or 4-year college for the 2016-2017 academic year and must be a student who has battled breast cancer, or a student who has a sibling, guardian or biological parent who has battled breast cancer within the past 10 years. Deadline: April 1.
Henderson State Bank Scholarship: Applicants must be in the top 50% of their class to apply and plan to enter a career field that is employable in the rural setting (agriculture, medical, education, business, etc). A short essay is required. Deadline: April 11.
Insuring Success Scholarship Contest: Applicant must be a NE resident and submit a 1 page essay: Who is the most influential person in your life that has help ensure your success? Why? Deadline: April 15.
James M. Cox Scholarship: Must complete the FAFSA and provide letters of recommendation and an essay. Based primarily on financial need. Deadline: April 15.
