Applications are available for the Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship.  This award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership.  Apply online by Oct. 2 at www.wendysheisman.com.
The Horatio Alger Scholarship Program awards students who have overcome obstacles in their lives and need financial assistance to attend college.  Find out more at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.  Deadline for application is October 25, 2015.
THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. If you are a high school senior with at least a 3.0 GPA, you may apply by completing the online application by the October 31 deadline.  Go to http://www.coca-colascholarsfoundation.org to get started.
KHOP (Kearney Health Opportunities Program) – A full tuition scholarship at UNK and guaranteed admission to students’ specified healthcare program at UNMC.  Included programs are: nursing, medicine, clinical lab science, pharmacy, and radiography.  Deadline: Nov. 15.  
Governer's Opportunity Award Scholarship: Offered by the Nebraska State College System and can be used to attend Chadron, Peru or Wayne State College.  Applicants must score between a 21 and 24 on the ACT.  Deadline: Dec. 1.

RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program) Students who plan to attend Wayne or Chadron State College may receive full tuition and are guaranteed early admission to Clinical Lab Science (CLS), Dental Hygiene, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician  Assistant, or Radiography degree programs at UNMC.  Deadlines at Chadron: Medicine – Nov 15, All other programs - Dec. 1, Deadline at Wayne State College: Nov. 15. 

HAGAN Foundation Scholarship – must maintain a 4-year graduation schedule, as well as a 3.0 college GPA. (3.5 high school GPA and 23 or higher on ACT) Must also work a minimum of 240 hours prior to the start of each academic year. This award can be up to $5,000 per semester, and it is renewable. FAFSA EFC must be less than $7,500. Applications can be downloaded at www.hsfmo.org Finalists interviewed and those not awarded a scholarship will receive $1,000 to further education. Deadline is Nov. 15, 2015.

Elks National Foundation 2016 Most Valuable Student Scholarship – Open to any high school senior who is a US citizen pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university. Scholarship deadline is Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. Application may be download at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm. Applications are based on scholarship, leadership and financial need and 500 awards are presented. Completed applications may be returned to Barry Redfern at Midwest Bank. 

2016 Cabela's Women in Leadership Scholarship: The Harry and Reba Huge Foundation is pleased to announce the $10,000 Cabela’s Women in Leadership Scholarship for 2016.  These scholarships will be awarded to female seniors graduating from a Nebraska High School in the spring of 2016.  The application will be available on October 1st. The application deadline is January 4th, 2016. Beginning Oct. 1, applications will b available on the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation website, www.thehugefoundation.org and the EducationQuest/ScholarshipQuest website, www.educationquest.org.
The Alyssa Sandmeier Foundation is offering a $600 scholarship to a Central Nebraska senior. To be eligible, students must submit a piece of creative writing. Deadline: March 25, 2016.
