HEARTLAND FBLA MEMBERS TRAVEL TO CHICAGO

The Heartland Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter traveled to the Windy City for the National Leadership Conference from June 28 to July 3.  Colton Siebert, Kaitlyn Quiring, Tyler Brown, Cody Kroeker, Ower Wurst, Haley Huebert, Camryn Dick, Leslie Braun, Ethan Hall and Aaron Buller along with adviser Kristy Most experienced the weeklong conference activities.  The group stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Chicago.

Kaitlyn Quiring placed second in the nation in Word Processing and received a $100 cash award from Keyboarding Online.  This was Kaitlyn’s third time attending a National Leadership Conference.  As a freshman she placed first in the nation in Word Processing I and as a junior she competed in Business Law.

Colton Siebert placed third in the nation in Accounting II and received a $300 cash award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  This was Colton’s fourth time attending a National Leadership Conference.  As a freshman he competed in Introduction to Business, as a sophomore he competed in Accounting I and as a junior he placed fourth in the nation in Entrepreneurship.

Also competing at Nationals were Cody Kroeker and Tyler Brown in Marketing, Owen Wurst, Haley Huebert and Camryn Dick in Global Business, Leslie Braun and Ethan Hall in Accounting I and Aaron Buller in Introduction to Information Technology.

The group enjoyed the following activities during the week:  evening at Navy Pier, Blue Man Group performance at the Briar Street Theatre, tour of Willis Tower (formerly called the Sears Tower), shopping on Michigan Avenue (The Magnificent Mile), riverboat tour of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, Segway Lakefront Tour, and enjoyed the famous cuisine of Chicago’s deep dish pizza.
