NHS Raises Money for Farmers Valley Cemetery

Heartland Community School’s National Honor Society (NHS) is sponsoring a school-year fundraiser to help with the restoration of Farmers’ Valley Cemetery, which suffered serious damage from vandals this past August.  All communities connected to these schools have strong ties to this historical cemetery, going as far back as the earliest settlers buried there.  These caring students want to help this cemetery, which suffered serious damage from vandals this past August.  Volunteers have temporarily pieced together most of the 40 damaged stones, but the estimated cost to fully restore these irreplaceable markers is over $30,000.  Thanks to the generosity of Henderson State Bank, 100% of these donations will be matched up to $10,000.  All monies raised will be filtered through the Plainsman Museum in Aurora, which is a 501 C 3 non-profit organization, making all donations tax deductable.
