Heartland Students Score Well Above State Averages on the State Tests

Heartland students improved their scores on the state reading and mathematics tests this spring.  Students in grades 3-8 and 11 were tested in reading and mathematics.  Students in grades 5, 8, and 11 were tested in science for the first time this year.  Nearly one third of the students, 29%, exceeded the state reading scores with three students earning the highest score of 200.  In math 28% of the students exceeded the state standards, while in science 20% of the students scored at the highest level.

The new reading results show that 83% of the students met or exceeded the state reading standards as compared to 78% in 2011. Statewide 74% of the students met or exceed the reading standards.

In mathematics 82% of Heartland students met or exceeded the state mathematics standards as compared to 67% in 2011.  Nebraska student scores show that 67% tested proficient.

In science 86% of the Heartland students met or exceeded the state standards.  Statewide 67% of the students met or exceed the standards.
