Build a Computer Day at Milford
Build a Computer Day was meant to give students from multiple schools the opportunity to build a computer, install the Linux operating system, make a video, and mingle. The day started out with meeting the ESU10 crew and eating donuts, apple juice was also provided, although some group members did not like this option all this much but said “water was worse” and dealt. After a little preview of what the day had in store for us, we began. We went step by step with a slide show the crew had provided to build the computer. Nate, an ESU6 crew member became very acquainted with our group, helping us the majority of the time. Building a computer was not as hard as we expected it to be, and we found ourselves very successful. After actually getting the computer built and in place, the next step was to put software on it. The software chosen was Ubuntu, which was the brand name for Linux operating system. After this step, and a few complications, we had fun adding free applications to the newly built computer. The day ended with a video that was made including all the groups that attended. Overall with some good food provided and a new knowledge of building computers we enjoyed ourselves and were successful.
